ID.me Verification Status Change Data

This page describes the IDme Verification Status Change data available to colleges via a daily or weekly report or via Superglue delivery.

About IDme Status Change Data

While our current identity verification process strongly encourages students to verify their identity using ID.me at the time they create their OpenCCC account and submit a CCCApply application, it is not required and students still have the option to decline the verification process before they submit their application. When this happens a Null value, or no value, is submitted for the three primary IDme data fields passed to the college. These values are stored with the application even if the student returns to verify their identity with ID.me at a later time or if a status change is made due to a change if the student’s account profile (see Understanding Status Changes below).

In order for colleges to track these verification status changes over time, post-submission status change data can be accessed by the college via a recurring daily or weekly report and/or delivered through Superglue directly to a dedicated staging table (coming November 2024). This additional data will allow colleges to always have the student’s current verification status and support students seeking financial aid and other financial assistance.

IDme Verification Status Change Report

The ID.me Verification Status Change Report provides colleges a way to track student ID verification changes over time, across single and multiple applications, and/or if the applicant has made account profile changes to their Name, Date of Birth or Address. The Status Change report can be requested in two versions: Full Backfill Report and Weekly Status Changes Report.

  • Backfill Report:  The Backfill Report provides a one-time run of every submitted application that includes an IDme Workflow Status Change indicated since IDme was first implemented (Feb 2024) to the date the report is run for the college. Rows on the report will show all rows where the “Current” workflow status <current_idme_workflow_status> is NOT Null (or blank) from the date IDme was implemented system wide (February 2, 2024) to the date/time the report is run for your college.

  • Daily or Weekly Report:  This report also only provides workflow status changes, configured to run/be run on a recurring schedule.  The report will show all IDme Workflow Status change events where the “current” workflow status <current_idme_workflow_status> is NOT Null (or blank) within 24 hours from the previous report for daily reports or within seven days from the previous weekly report.

Some notes:

  1. The status change report will ONLY display rows where the “current” <idme_workflow_status> value IS NOT Null or equivalent (aka “blank” = “Never Verified”).

  2. The “latest” <idme_workflow_status> can be null or equivalent as the change may be due to a change to the student’s account profile (First or Last Name, or DOB).

  3. Changes to the <idme_workflow_status> are stored and delivered in the Current IDme Workflow Status field <current_idme_workflow_status>.

  4. Reminder: all new, first time applicants will have a workflow status value of null or blank by default. Unless they complete the IDme verification process (in other words, no change to their status) they will not be included in the report.

Request Your Status Change Report: Colleges may request access to the IDme Verification Status Change Report(s) by sending an email request directly to CCCTC Staff Support at staffsupportccctc@openccc.zendesk.com, or by reaching out to your Enabling Services College Experience Manager at cems@ccctechcenter.org.

IDme Status Change Data via Superglue

In addition to the reports, your college’s IDme verification status change data will be deliverable via Superglue to a dedicated staging table. Similar to other Superglue data set changes, colleges are encouraged to work with your Enabling Services College Experience Manager (CEM) at cems@ccctechcenter.org, or by contacting CCCTC Staff Support directly at staffsupportccctc@openccc.zendesk.com.

ID Verification Data Fields

There are three data fields that are initially collected during the ID.me Verification process and stored with the student’s CCCApply submitted application data:

  • IDme Opt-in Timestamp

  • IDme Confirmation Timestamp

  • IDme Workflow Status

All ID.me data fields, including the status change fields, are documented in the CCCApply Standard & Noncredit Application Data Dictionary (v.2024.5 or higher).

If the student declines to verify their identity with IDme during the application process, null or no values will be stored in the CCCApply submitted applications database. If they start and/or complete the IDme verification process, a verification status value will be stored with corresponding timestamps. These fields provide the foundation for tracking and understanding IDme Status Change data.

The ID Verification Workflow Status Field

The IDme Workflow Status field indicates the status of the student's IDme identity verification at the time of the student’s OpenCCC account creation. If/when there is a change to that initial verification status, the college is notified by way of the <current_idme_workflow_status> field on Status Change Report or if implemented, direct data delivery via Superglue.

The values for the workflow status field are the same for any of the workflow status fields in the Status Change data.

blank/null = the student has never verified their identity through the IDme process.
verified = the student’s IDme verification was successful and current.
staff_verified = the student’s account was created and verified by a college staff at the time account is created (student has not self-verified yet with IDme).
unverified = the student’s identity was previously verified but information in their OpenCCC account profile has changed.
expired = one year (365 days) has elapsed since the student’s last “Verified” status.

About Verification Status Changes

IDme workflow status changes happen when there is a change in the student’s IDme verification status, either during the process of submitting a CCCApply application; from a change to a student’s account profile; or over time (expires). When a change is identified, an event is triggered which notifies the college through the “current workflow status” field <current_idme_workflow_status> via the status change report or Superglue. The current workflow status field is one of several new change data fields dedicated to tracking student identity verification events so that colleges can support students seeking financial aid and other assistance.

Valid current IDme workflow status change values reported are:

  • Never Verified (Blank) to Verified

  • Verified to Unverified

  • Unverified to Verified

  • Unverified to Expired

  • Verified to Expired

  • Staff Verified to Unverified, Verified or Expired
