30-Day Pilot Site Preview
In order to allow colleges time to review and implement the changes and enhancements deployed in Release 5.5 on September 30, we released the code to the Pilot environment 30 days in advance, on September 1, 2016.
A new "Pilot Environment" section has been added to the Public Documentation space to provide additional information about getting to, and using, the Pilot site.
NOTICE: All changes and enhancements deployed as part of this release, including the Multiple Measures implementation, will remain in the Pilot site as a clone to the production deployment. Any colleges that did not opt-in to implement the Multiple Measures fields may continue to view and test the fields in the Pilot environment.

OpenCCC Account
The following enhancement was made to the OpenCCC Account system. There is no action required by colleges.

Update: Shibboleth Version 3 Upgrade Postponed to October 28, 2016
The Shibboleth V3 upgrade, originally scheduled to be completed in this release, has been postponed to Friday, October 28, 2016 in order to support the launch of the CCC MyPath Student Services Portal in late October. The upgrade, and the postponing of the upgrade, will not affect colleges and there is nothing that colleges need to do relative to this event.
Colleges that are in process of upgrading their own college/district Shibboleth V2 should continue to move forward with those efforts. For more information about the OpenCCC Shibboleth V3 upgrade, please contact Patty Donohue, pdonohue@ccctechcenter.org, or post a comment on CCCTechnology.info.

The following data fields were added to the Download Client in Release 5.5.
To download these fields, your college IT staff must add them to the Download Format Definitions XML file for the application(s) they pertain to. This process is described in the CCCApply Download Client User Guide.

Opt-In to Download the Multiple Measures Data Fields
The new Multiple Measures for Assessment Placement data fields were added to the Download Client V3 for the Standard Application, but you will only be able to download them if you opt-in to implement this feature. Changes to Residency Logic
Update to Area B Residency Logic
The Area B residency logic was updated to fix a problem identified around California residents who answered "Yes" to one or more of the "out-of-state activity" questions within the past year. The majority of the problems identified pertain to California residents that reported that they paid taxes outside California last year, yet they've also lived in the state for the past two years.
What action does the college need to take?
No change is required by the college (unless you have custom residency calculation forms that need to be updated with the new step and change to Step 1). Otherwise, the residency algorithm will continue to do its job calculating the "Preliminary Residency Status". Admissions staff should be aware that there is a new integrity flag for "Out-of-State Activities" to help identify these cases and collect proof when needed.

Accessibility Fixes
One of the objectives of this release was to fix a series of accessibility issues in the CCCApply applications which were identified in an accessibility review conducted in February 2016. Issues that can be fixed in the current version of CCCApply will be fixed; however, issues that require significant re-writes to the application code or user interface are being deferred to the next version of CCCApply (3.0). Development for V.3.0 is slated to begin in Fall 2017. For more information on accessibility fixes in CCCApply, see Accessibility Updates in CCCApply.

The PILOT Site
All items deployed in the 5.5 Release on September 30, 2016 to the Production environment will remain in the Pilot Site after the release. We encourage college Admissions staff to review the changes and alert your IT department staff to add the new data fields to your Download files. (See New Data Fields & Changes to the Download Client section for new fields added.) NOTE: All other changes, including the new step added to the Area B residency logic, require no action by the college.
Preview in the Pilot Site
All 5.5 release changes and enhancements were deployed to the Pilot environment for colleges to preview and test. The latest versions of the CCCApply Data Dictionaries and User Guides now reflect both the production and pilot environment application code. Questions?
