Meeting Chat Q&A
13:53:34 From Betty Glyer Culver : Patty and all...unfortunately I have to attend another meeting. I will review the meeting minutes and touch base if I have questions esp around Dual Enrollment conversation. Also I sent you (Patty) an email on gainful employment regulations...early rescission. If you have any questions just let me know. Sorry to miss the rest of the meeting. Betty (Los Rios)
13:55:38 From Leigh Ann : Can we add to the whitelist? i.e. high school I.P. Address.
13:56:10 From MItch Leahy : We had a problem with gmail
14:04:47 From Tuyen Nguyen (Santiago Canyon College) : Tuyen Nguyen, Santiago Canyon College (RSCCD). Sorry missed the beginning roll call
14:05:09 From Jasmine Robinson : YYYYAAAAYYY to responsive design!
14:05:48 From MItch Leahy : Can we also talk about the parent/guardian questions please.
14:21:40 From Josh Rosales : Joshua Rosales, El Camino College. I came in about 10 minutes late.
14:52:00 From Michael D. Ward - rsccd.edu : Besides the European Union's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), will we need to take into consideration the upcoming California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 (CCPA) which takes effect 01/01/2020?
14:54:10 From Jennifer Coleman : The CCPA is something our security director is tracking on, and we’re waiting to hear how this may impact our products.
14:54:15 From Jennifer Coleman : Stay tuned for more information.
14:56:24 From ealcala : Regarding your question on the parent/guardian question. Foster youth were being affected by a question that asked, ‘do you have a legal guardian’. This question was asked to determine residency of a student whose parents may be deceased and would therefore adopt the residency of their guardian. For foster youth, the residency is already waived through ed. code 68085. So this question had no relevance for that specific group.
14:56:31 From ealcala : “I was placed or remained in foster care at any time after my 13th birthday” If a student clicks the box saying this statement applies to them, then the questions about legal guardian will not show up during their application sequence. According to the higher ed act of 1965 section 480 (d)(1)(B) when a student is 13 years of age, they are considered independent thus why the 13 years of age part is there.
14:57:01 From MItch Leahy : Its currently causing a ton of residency issues.
15:24:39 From Leigh Ann : I think this is a great idea (SSN suggestion)
15:29:20 From MItch Leahy : I'm game for residency and the wording of questions
15:30:15 From Ali Salinas (Riverside City College) : Sure. :)
15:30:19 From rguzman : Yes another meeting works for me
15:30:19 From Leigh Ann : Yes
15:31:35 From Olivia : Need to leave the meeting. Thank you for all the updates.
15:32:07 From Ali Salinas (Riverside City College) : Thank you, Patty.
15:32:13 From Michael D. Ward - rsccd.edu : Thank you!
15:32:14 From Paulette Lino : thank you patty
15:33:05 From rguzman : Has the chancellor's office mentioned anything regarding applying residency determination from one college to another. I believe this was briefly menitoned at CACCRAO in May. I'll ask you by email about this.
