Download Client

NOTICE: As of January 31, 2024, the CCCApply Download Client is no longer be supported by the CCCTC. For more information, please see Download Client: End-of-Life Process for details.

The CCCApply Download Client is a platform-neutral, command-line tool used to download student application data for all three CCCApply applications and a number of fields from the OpenCCC Account, to a local computer so that it can be imported into your college's SIS. When your college implements CCCApply, a custom Download Client is created for your college and contains all the files needed for all CCCApply applications.

Download Job & Format Definitions XML Files

After you unzip the Download client, a text or XML editor is used to set up a properties file and then edit two sample XML files (Job and Format Definitions) that allow you to:

  • configure which student application data fields to retrieve

  • define the data format for the download file

  • point to the specific test or production download server

The CCC Technology Center provides sample job and format definitions XML files for each application (Standard/Noncredit, CC Promise Grant (BOG Fee Waiver), and International) as a part of the Download client package. (Get copies of the Job & Format Definitions XML Templates). After configuring your properties and job and format definitions XML files you can run download jobs in your test environment and SIS to confirm the data is mapping and storing correctly in your SIS prior to downloading data from the production server. Download jobs can be set for both the application data and supplemental question responses.

Please refer to the CCCApply Download Client User Guide for installation and operation information. For support, post a question or issue on

Adding New Data Fields & Updating Your Download Client

When new fields are added to OpenCCC or any of the CCCApply Applications in one of the Annual Updates or a supplemental September release, they need to be manually added to your Application Format Definitions XML files (each application - CCCApply, CCPG (BOG), International - has a unique one) AND you must update your Download Client with the release-specific Transfer-Client Jar file.  A new 'transfer-client-jar" file is created for each release, including the Pilot releases. The latest transfer client jar files are always provided in release notes and updated alongside the Download Client User Guide.

Reminder: The CCCApply Download Client will no longer be supported as of July 31, 2023. No new data fields will be available using the DLC service starting June 30, 2022. See Download Client: End-of-Life Process.

In your installed Download Client directory, replace the older files with the latest version files which are always stored with the Download Client User Guide.

CCCApply Download Servers

When a student submits a CCCApply (Standard, Noncredit or International) or CC Promise Grant (BOG) application, their application responses are stored in the CCC Tech Center's submitted application database in two tables: submitted_application and submitted_question_response (for supplemental question responses). The submitted_application table contains the applicants' responses on their application and a number of fields from their user account at the time they submit.
