Shibboleth "validUntil" Error

Problem

An issue arose for several colleges on December 21, 2016 when trying to access the CCCApply Administrator and Report Center applications. The issue was evidenced by college administrators seeing a blank page in their browser when they tried to get to the applications via their local college IdP using a URL similar to this one used by Marin College:

https://idp.marin.edu/idp/profile/SAML2/Unsolicited/SSO?providerId=https://admin.openccc.net/shibboleth&shire=https://admin.openccc.net/Shibboleth.sso/SAML2/POST&target=https://admin.openccc.net/admin/


Solution

This issue can be resolved by a college IT or system administrator with access to the college and/or district IdP.  The directions to resolve the issue are as follows:

1) cd /opt/shibboleth-idp/metadata

2) edit the file named OpenCCCSP-static-metadata.xml

3) in the first line of the file, remove the string validUntil="2016-12-21T01:10:00Z" from that line, leaving all other parameters intact

4) restart the IdP
