Release Overview

As part of the systemwide Student Success Initiative, this release is coordinated across all Student Success Suite products and services and is intended to provide continuity and cohesion to the student onboarding experience overall.

  • Major, coordinated release to support a cohesive integration of the new OpenCCC system

  • Includes changes to individual applications and services, including CCCApply and CCC MyPath

  • Provides opportunity to implement infrastructure & modernization of deployment processes

The CCCApply v.6.11.0 release focused on updates to improve student navigation of the CCCApply standard, noncredit, international, and California College Promise Grant (CCPG) applications. These changes were guided by a review of the CCCApply interface that was conducted by the Foundation for Community Colleges (FCC) at the request of the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office (CCCCO).

Changes to CCCApply Applications

Below is a list of the change that affect all three changes that were implemented to the CCCApply applications.

Changes to All CCCApply Applications

The most significant changes being implemented to the CCCApply applications are related to the redesign and integration of the new Edit Account Profile service, including the display, review and edit functionality that ensures the user’s account information is up-to-date and accurate as it is passed to the college through the CCCApply submitted applications.

These changes include moving the ability for users to view and edit their account information from inside the CCCApply applications to the My Applications page, the redesign and renaming of the Account Information page, and adding several account fields - which were removed from the OpenCCC Account Creation process - into CCCApply.

BEFORE: The Old Account Information Page

  • The Account Information page appeared in every CCCApply application, including the CCCApply International application and the CC Promise Grant application.

  • The top section of the page - known as the Review OpenCCC Account Information - displayedtheuser’s existing account information details and a link to edit their account data as needed.
  • Any edits made to their account information were stored and passed to the college with the application data at the time of submission.

  • Image Removed

    Tip

    AFTER: The New Profile Page

    The previous Account Information page has been redesigned and is now called the Profilepage.
  • The Profile page will now appear in every CCCApply application, including the CC Promise Grant.

  • The Review OpenCCC Account Information section has been moved to the My Applications page.

  • The Previous/Other Name Fields

    • As part of the OpenCCC Account redesign, the “Previous Name” question (and all associated data fields) has been moved to the Profile page in all CCCApply applications.

    • No changes were made to the data fields or the question format, conditions, or error validations.

    Changes to Data Fields & Data Delivery

    The sections below outline details about the data fields and delivery changes being deployed in this release (Student Success Suite Release 1.0).

    New Data Fields

    Several new data fields have been added to the OpenCCC 2.0 Account system. In the launch of the new system:

    • New fields will be delivered via Glue for Apply in the first release, and

    Note

    New fields will NOT be added to the CCCApply Download Client (See CCCApply Download Client Begins End-Of-Life Cycle.)

    Changes to Data Fields

    Many of the legacy system data fields will still to be collected from students during account creation and delivered to colleges through submitted CCCApply applications and CCCMyPath. Below are some notable change log notes on these fields.

    Data Delivery With SuperGlue for Apply

    As of July 1, 2022, all new CCCApply application and OpenCCC Account data will be delivered to colleges through the SuperGlue for Apply service only. The CCCApply Download Client will remain operational for existing/legacy data fields, but will not include any new data.

    Between now and June 30, 2022, only new state legislative or MIS mandated fields will be added to the Download Client. All other non-mandated fields will be available through SuperGlue for Apply only.

    Gender/Transgender question

    The following statement: “Gender in this context, means a person's sex, or a person's gender identity and gender expression.” was moved immediately below the Gender/Transgender header. The “This information will be used for federal and state reporting” statement was removed because it has been added in a bullet to the top of the Demographic page under the page header.

    Standardization of Help Information Text Using Tool-Tip Icons

    Instances of Help information implemented with hyperlinks (formerly called “pop-up” Help in the data dictionary) have been replaced with the more accessible Help icons to display when the icon is clicked. The original onscreen text and help information has not changed. This change ensures that all help text and additional onscreen information now behaves in a standardized way.

    New Format for the Clear Selection Action

    Instances of the Clear Selection function on several Yes/No questions has been changed from a hyperlink to a button following the CCCCO style guide requirements. No change was made to the Clear Selection functionality. When the Clear Selection button is clicked, the user’s previous response will be cleared.

    New Sub-Section Navigation Feature Added to the Review Application Page

    A new sub-section navigation feature was added to the Review Application page allowing the user to easily jump back and edit a specific page or section in the application. If changes or corrections are made to a previously completed page or section the user must click the Save or Continue button to confirm the change and continue on to the Submission page.

    This changes has been implemented in the Standard & Noncredit application, as well as the International Application.

    CCCApply Download Client End-of-Life Cycle

    In FY2021-22, the CCC Tech Center began outlining steps to sunset the CCCApply Download Client as a supported data delivery service for the CCCApply applications. End-of-life activities include moving the Download Client to maintenance mode and communicating to colleges that all only new state legislative and MIS mandated data fields will be added to the Download Client moving forward. OpenCCC and CCCApply application data fields will only be delivered via the SuperGlue for Apply service.

    As a reminder, the CCCApply Download Client is backwards compatible and will still be able to deliver data for existing Account and CCCApply data fields.
