Release Scope

Release Summary

This release (OpenCCC 3.2.0) is part of a combined release supporting the high priority effort to implement the Social Security Number/Taxpayer Identification Number (SSN/TIN) question into the OpenCCC Account system as a required question for all users. Along with the work to move the question from it’s current position in the CCCApply Standard Application (CCCApply v.6.21.0), the full implementation includes enhanced data storage security, data delivery to colleges via the Superglue College Adaptor, and enhances our existing duplicate account matching logic.

For additional release information and supporting implementation items, see CCCApply Release 6.21.0 Summary Notes.

Integrate Social Security Number Into OpenCCC Account

The full integration includes:

  • Move the existing SSN/TIN question UI/UX into the OpenCCC Account system workflows (Account Creation and Edit Account);

  • Migrate existing SSN data* fields to secure identity management and related services;

  • Maintain current data delivery via existing data streams and conductor workflows to downstream services and applications, including CCCApply Report Center, CCCApply Administrator, Helpdesk as needed, Data Warehouse products and DWRS;

  • Enhance account matching logic to minimize duplicate accounts.

User Interface

The Social Security Number question has been integrated into the OpenCCC Account system and will now appear to all students during the account creation and edit account workflows. The question layout, text, input validation, data fields, and data delivery will all function exactly as it does today, and will remain a required question. All new users must respond with either “Yes, I have a social security number or taxpayer identification number” - and then provide the number, or “No, I don’t have a social security number…” before moving on to the next required question.

If the user selects, “No. I do not have a social security number or taxpayer identification number, or decline to provide one at this time”, the optional the SSN/TIN Exception checkbox will appear, allowing the student to indicate why they don’t have an SSN/TIN, including:

  • the student is enrolled exclusively in noncredit courses

  • the student is an international student

  • the student is undocumented or is not a citizen or national of the United States

  • other exception

Edit Account

If the user does not provide a SSN/TIN during account creation, they are able to provide one at a later time by signing in to their account and revising their response on the Edit Account page.

  • There are no changes made to the CCCApply Standard/Noncredit Application Data Dictionary related to this release.
