See Breakdown of Changes below for details. |
As of July 1, 2020, the CCCCO MIS requires colleges to identify incoming adult education and vocational students through a new data value being added to SB11 STUDENT-EDUCATION-STATUS and SB15 STUDENT-ENROLLMENT-STATUS in support of revised legislation California Senate Bill 554 (SB554) allowing students currently enrolled in an adult education program in pursuit of a Certificate of High School Proficiency may also be permitted to concurrently enroll at a California community college.
value would be added to both SB11 STUDENT-EDUCATION-STATUS and SB15 STUDENT-ENROLLMENT-STATUS in support of beginning July 1, 2020. These These MIS changes were made to comply with revisions made to California Senate Bill 554 (SB554) allowing students currently enrolled in an adult education program in pursuit of a Certificate of High School Proficiency may to also be permitted to concurrently enroll at a California community college.
CCCApply needs to be updated in order for colleges to accurately identify these students and co their enrollment status (SB15) and their education level (SB11).
The priority for this release is to implement a handful of minor data field changes in CCCApply* to align with parallel changes implemented by CCCCO MIS DED to identify adult school students who will be attending adult school but also authorized to enroll in a California community college at the same time. This change to both MIS and CCCApply complies with legislation SB-554 Public schools: adult school students: Advanced Scholastic and Vocational Training Program.(2019-2020)
According to the California Legislative Information website, “(SB554) authorizes the governing board of a school district overseeing an adult education program or the governing board of a community college district overseeing a noncredit program to authorize a student pursuing a high school diploma or a high school equivalency certificate to enroll as a special part-time student at a community college.”
The intent of this section is to better facilitate streamlined enrollment in colocated credit college courses on adult education and noncredit program sites and to help ensure a smoother transition from secondary education to college for adult high school equivalency students by providing them with greater exposure to the collegiate atmosphere.
New response options to support Education page question changes to comply with SB554 (Adult Special Admit / Dual Enrollment), which streamlines the process for authorized adult school students to enroll in community college (dual enrollment) to complete high school in . A summary of user interface and data field changes includes:
