CENIC Projects Schedule FY24/25

The following college districts' circuits are currently scheduled for upgrade to 10GB or new 1GB circuits for center locations or replacement of end-of-life (EOL) routers. This project plan is not static and may change depending on new requests, circuit outage and diversity issues, new buildings and/or center locations, technology upgrades, etc. The schedule below reflects the month that the college district evaluation meeting occurred and approved the network topology map, or the month of finalization of the plan and order of the circuit, or the scheduled month for router replacements.   • Coast CCD (moved from 23/24; no response from college)

    • Coastline Community College 10GB upgrade

  • Kern CCD - New Request

    • Bakersfield Arvin Campus 2x 1GB

    • Bakersfield Southwest Center 2x 1GB

  • Los Rios CCD (originally met in and moved from 23/24; majority of circuits ordered September/October 2024)

    • Mather2 1GB (No Bid on diverse secondary)

  • Solano County CCD (evaluated 23/24, college requested 10GB circuits, still working with VAST on options; moved to 24/25)

    • Vacaville Center 1GB -->10GB Requested

    • Vallejo Center 2x 1G -->10GB Requested

  • CCCCO Data Center - ASR1001-X; replacement in progress with 10GB circuit upgrade

  • Chaffey CCD - 2 ASR1001-X and 3 ASR9001; to be replaced as diverse circuits are installed

  • Foothill CCD - ASR1001-X and 4 ASR9001; to be replaced as diverse circuits are installed

  • Glendale CCD - 3 ASR1001-X and 4 ASR9001; no reply to survey

  • Los Rios CCD - 4 ASR1001-X; to be replaced as center site circuits are installed

  • Mira Costa CCD - ASR1001-X and 2 ASR9001; replied to survey, need to schedule

  • Mt. San Jacinto CCD - ASR1001-X; replacement in progress with 1GB circuit install at Meniffee, need to decommission EOL router

  • San Bernardino CCD - ASR1001-X; replacement in progress with 1GB diverse circuit install and 4 ASR9001 can be replaced while working on new center, diverse circuit for DO, and e-line - not ordered yet

  • San Jose-Evergreen CCD - ASR1001-X; replacement completed need to decommission and return EOL router

  • Santa Barbara CCD - ASR1001X and ASR9001; replacement in progress with 10GB City College diverse circuit

  • Shasta CCD - 6 ASR1001-X; replacement in progress with Trinity-Burney Center, can include the others in the process

  • South Orange County CCD - 2 ASR1001-X and 2 ASR9001; replacements completed need to decommission & return EOL routers

  • Southwestern CCD - 8 ASR1001-X; replied to survey, need to schedule

  • Yuba CCD - 3 ASR1001-X; circuits in progress, not the correct sites but Ken will reach out

    • 08/27/2024: Developed Google form to collect info CENIC engineering will need and start scheduling router replacements

 

September 2024

  • Gavilan CCD (originally met in and moved from 23/24 as site not ready; plan finalized July 2024. Circuits ordered September 2024)

    • San Benito Campus 2x 1GB

  • Hartnell CCD (moved from 23/24 due to no response from college; plan finalized July 2024. Circuits ordered September 2024)

    • 09/03/2024: Met with CCCTC Marketing to discuss and plan use of a Constant Contact campaign to notify colleges of need to replace routers and expectation of receipt of an email with a survey/scheduling form

    • 09/04/2024: Met with CENIC to finalize list of districts that the Constant Contact messages will be sent

    • 09/04/2024: Received outline of the router replacement campaign and draft of the first message from CCCTC Marketing

    • 09/06/2024: Reviewed and provided feedback to CCCTC Marketing on the draft Constant Contact message

    • 09/09/2024: Provided CCCTC Marketing with contact list for messages

    • 09/11/2024: 1st of 2 Router Replacement Constant Contact messages was sent out to targeted list of recipients

    • 09/25/2024: 2nd of 2 Router Replacement Constant Contact messages was sent out to targeted list of recipients

October 2024

November 2024

  • Copper Mountain CCD (originally ordered June 2024 with Frontier; canceled and reordered with Spectrum due to Frontier’s construction costs)

    • 10/15/2024: Began reviewing responses from the EOL Router Replacement Scheduling survey and started scheduling districts that we are not already working with to upgrade or replace circuits for diversity. Need to resend to 10 college districts

December 2024

  • Butte-Glenn Community College District (originally met in and moved from 23/24 due to no diversity for secondary circuits; plan finalized July 2024; circuits ordered December 2024)

3 Implementations typically take 3-9 months or longer in some cases depending on project needs and are largely dependent on collaboration between the telecommunications carrier(s), CENIC’s PMs and engineers, sometimes local government (permits), and the college/district purchasing and installing or connecting equipment, then migrating and testing circuits. CCCTC and CENIC PMs regularly review circuits in this status and reach out to the carriers and colleges/districts as needed to keep things moving.

4 Circuit cancellations are based on college/district requests or due to “No Bid” from telecommunications carriers. Note that these are deducted from the “Planned Prioritized Circuit” totals above and are not cumulative for each quarter, only the number of circuits canceled within a specific quarter are counted.

5 Circuits rescheduled for the following fiscal year at the colleges' request AND deducted from the “Planned Prioritized Circuit” totals above.
