CCCApply - Focused on Success: Mapping the Road Ahead
Featuring a range of topics and speakers covering the year in review and the roadmap ahead. The break-out sessions are offered in three tracks including topics for new and experienced Admissions & Records staff; Report Center training and data handling best practices; and a special series of sessions exploring new projects and statewide initiatives, including MyPath, the Student Services Portal, and Project Glue.
Keynote Speaker
Pamela D. Walker, Ed.D.
Vice Chancellor of Educational Services
Dr. Pamela D. Walker serves as vice chancellor for educational services at the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office and leads the divisions of Academic Affairs, Student Services and Workforce and Economic Development. Dr. Walker is a highly regarded educational leader with experience as a faculty member and administrator in the K-12 system, multiple four-year university systems and in the California Community Colleges. She came to the Chancellor’s Office from American River College after spending 12 years in positions as the dean of science and allied health, associate vice president for instruction, vice president for student services and interim president. At Cerritos College, she was the dean of heath, physical education, recreation, athletics and dance and interim dean of admissions and records. She also held the position of associate commissioner for the California Community College Athletic Association. Prior to her tenure in the California Community Colleges system, Walker worked at both public and private colleges and universities. Walker is a tireless advocate for the benefit of education working throughout her career to develop programs of distinction to better serve students. She is passionate about mentoring the next generation of leaders and has taught graduate classes and served on numerous dissertation committees. |
Dr. Walker received her bachelor’s degree from Eastern Oregon State University in LaGrande, master’s degree from California State University, Sacramento and doctoral degree in Organization and Leadership from the University of San Francisco.

This year's CCCApply Workshop will focus on helping you get the most out of your OpenCCCApply implementation. The break-out sessions will feature tips, tricks, and best practices from early adopters, and advanced training for new and experienced OpenCCCpply users. We'll also explore the statewide technology initiatives in a special session on the Education Planning Initiative and a demo of the new Student Services Portal.

Patty Donohue Product Manager, | Introduction to the International ApplicationDemonstration of the new International application and staff tools (Administrator & Report Center). We’ll review setting up Terms, Majors, English Proficiency, Rules, Supplemental Questions and Users in the Administrator and looking up submitted applications and run reports in the Report Center. We’ll finish the session with a high-level overview of the implementation project. Report Center. Join us for a demonstration of the new CCCApply International Application, followed by a discussion and review of Diablo Valley College’s implementation plan using supplemental questions and email rules to transition from their paper application to the online application and automated download process. Following the session, the computer lab will be available for attendees to further explore the application and ask questions about reports and configuring the Administrator. This session is geared towards colleges interested in getting started with the International application. Audience: Admissions & Records staff and administrators, IT staff and other stakeholders interested in getting started with the new application. |
CCCApply Annual Update 2017
Patty Donohue Product Manager: CCCApply, OpenCCC, | Join current and past CCCApply Steering Committee Chairs, Richette Bell and Bill Mulrooney, for a high-level review of the approved change requests, new enhancements, and key MIS reporting changes that will be released in the upcoming annual update on March 31st. Attendees will walk away with information and answers to questions such as, “How will these changes affect my job in Admissions? Do I have to update any of our admissions forms or current processes due to these changes? What new data fields are being added to the application and what does our IT staff need to do to update our student information system?” This session is always popular with staff who rely on the CCCApply application data for residency, financial aid, research, MIS reporting and other student support needs. Audience: All CCCApply users, especially A&R, IT, and Research staff who rely on OpenCCCApply submitted application data for admissions, financial aid, MIS reporting and other business operations that rely on the data download file from incoming students. Presenters: Patty Donohue, CCC Technology Center; Mitchell Leahy, Santa Rosa Jr. College Patty Donohue has been with the CCC Technology Center since 2008, supporting multiple student services projects and programs, including the California Virtual Campus, ePortfolio California, and eTranscript California. Currently Product Manager for CCCApply and OpenCCC, the statewide student account system, Patty is also leading the effort to connect the California Community Colleges to the OpenCCC SSO federated identity initiative. |

CCCApply Residency Algorithm 101
Robin Armour Director, Admissions & Records | Interact with members of the CCCApply Steering Committee for a presentation and Q&A session on how the CCCApply residency algorithm calculates the “preliminary” residency determination and AB540 eligibility statuses, and how the integrated Integrity Flags are used to alert staff to potential residency issues and priority registration eligibilities. Current Ed Code legislation and new MIS requirements changes will also be discussed. This popular session should appeal to all CCCApply Standard Application users, and particularly to new users and recent adopters of OpenCCCApply transitioning from a homegrown application. Audience: Geared towards all users of the CCCApply standard application but especially beneficial to new user adopters coming from a homegrown application to CCCApply. Lead Presenter: Stephanie Murguia, Cerritos College; CCCApply Steering members Robin Armour has been working in Admissions & Records for 25 years, and for the last 8 ½ years as Director of Admissions & Records at Los Medanos College in the Contra Costa Community College District. Robin serves on several statewide and national committees, including the CCCApply Steering Committee. Robin is dedicated to ensuring student success on multiple levels. |

Nancy Wagoner Specialist, Fiscal Standards & Accountability Unit | Natalie Wagner recently began working as a specialist in the Fiscal Standards and Accountability Unit at the Chancellor’s Office. Her primary responsibilities are issues related to attendance accounting and residency. Prior to working in this capacity, Natalie worked as a fiscal analyst at the Chancellor’s Office focusing on the Community Colleges system budget and other fiscal related projects. |
Michael R. Quiaoit Specialist, Student Services & Special Programs | Michael Quiaoit is currently the Specialist over the Student Success and Support Program for the California Community College Chancellor's Office. Michael’s oversees a 270 million dollar program statewide for 113 colleges and 72 districts. He has a baccalaureate in Rhetoric from the University of California, Berkeley and a Master in Public Administration from California State University, Stanislaus. Michael has over 20 years of experience in higher education. He has worked as a Financial Aid Counselor, Policy Analyst, Project Director, and Marketing Director in both the university and community college environments. |

By special request - this session provides a forum for colleges and users who need more advanced training using filters, building cross-tabs, charts, and creating ad hoc reports. We’ll jump right into advanced topics for experienced users, including how to customize Public reports and view templates and how to leverage the power of Jasper reporting software. Computer Lab
Just a short walk from the Campus Dining Hall, a facilitated computer Lab will be available for users to get help using the CCC Report Center, using the Administrator, exploring the International Application, or play around with some of the new tips & tricks learned in today’s concurrent sessions. A CCC Tech Center support engineer will be on hand starting at 11:30AM. There are only 15 computers available, so we may ask you double up with a colleague.
