  • The Foster Youth question language was revised to account for the age limit change for exiting foster care from 16 to 13 or older (SB 512)

Support for AB 2881: Student Parents

Two new questions and data fields have been implemented to support AB 2881: student parents with dependent children. This new legislation requires California Community Colleges, as well as California State Universities and University of California campuses to provide support and services to students who have one or more dependent children under age 18 that receive more than half of their support from the student parent, including enrollment priority. In order to identify these students, a brief Yes or No question has been added to both the CCC Promise Grant Application and the CCCApply Standard Application.

New Question in the CC Promise Grant Application

The new question added to the CCC Promise Grant Application (CCPG) will be placed in the Dependency section; however the response will not be included in the BOGFW eligibility algorithm.

New Question in the the CCCApply Standard Application

Student Parent Data

The boolean field will be available to colleges via Glue for Apply and the CCCApply Report Center. The fields will also be added to the Rules & Messages modules in the CCCApply Administrator so that colleges are able to send automatic emails to students, if desired.

Foster Youth Language Update

The language in the Foster Youth Status question pertaining to the age at which a foster youth student “exited foster care” has been changed from “16 or older” to “age 13 years or older” to comply with Senate Bill No. 512 - which extends the requirement and request for enrollment priority as specified in Ed Code: EC 66025.9(b)(1) to “on or after the youth’s 13th birthday”.
