Problem / Issue

The Common Assessment Initiative (CAI) is requesting a series of 5 (or 6) new data fields and onscreen questions be added to CCCApply Standard Application in support of collecting data (multiple measures) for placement. 40 colleges are currently implementing the CAI program and will need this data added by September 2016.

Proposed Solution

Only pertains to the CCCApply Standard Application.

Add a section to the Education page called, "High School Transcript Information", which would include 5 (possibly six) data field questions pertaining to the applicant's GPA and highest English and Math courses completed at the time of application. The section would appear below the "Last HS Attended" section, and would only display to students who meet specific criteria, including citizenship (only applicable to US citizens), enrollment status, and high school education level status. CAI is only interested - at this time - in data collected from students who have completed high school (or equivalent) within 10 years of their high school (or equivalent) completion date. The data fields themselves would include one text input field (GPA) with validation to ensure the number format is 0.00 - 4.00, and four "Menu" fields. The questions and data fields would be added to the Download Client and would be available in Rules and the Report Center.

Requirements Summary

#DescriptionNotes/Comments
Add new section to the Education page, labeled "High School Transcript Information"
Add validation to display section, otherwise don't display section: Applicant must have graduated (or equivalent) from high school in the US within 10 years of current date (or RDD). This information is still being confirmed with CAI steering committee.
If section appears to applicant, then display all five questions and require a response?
*Questions 4 - 6 may be consolidated into two questions. Jennifer Coleman is confirming requirements with steering now (6/20/16).
Each question/data field will be specified individually, including data element details, conditions, validations, error messages, specific text/language

5 new data fields will be created and added to the Apply database tables.
All 5 data fields are downloadable and will be added to the Download Client.
All 5 data fields will be made available in the Rules (Administrator) and Report Center.
Hover Help: Only the text input field (GPA) will require English hover help language (and spanish)
Add to Review Application page: The new section and all 5 data fields will be added to the Review Application page
Update Specs: The Standard Application Data Dictionary will be updated to include a summary of the section and specific data field specifications.

Add new section to Education page called "High School Transcript Information"
