2015-16: Add Baccalaureate Degree Values to Standard & International Applications (SP02)

Problem / Issue

Colleges are requesting that Baccalaureate degrees be added to the Majors in CCCApply standard and international applications.  Per a recent memo from MIS, SP02 has been updated to allow for reporting of Baccalaureate degrees. Colleges who offer these programs require a way to capture and report using CCCApply data.

SP02 has been updated to allow for reporting of Baccalaureate degrees.

 New Credit Award Type: Y = Baccalaureate of Arts (B.A.) degree

 New Credit Award Type: Z = Baccalaureate of Science (B.S.) degree

(Find out if we should stick with consistency and add 2-digit codes for new Bachelor degrees (BY = B.A. Degree; BS = B.S. Degree) or stick with single digit codes as per SP02?

Proposed Solution

Add two new response options/data values to the "Award Type" data field <award_type>:

1. Y = Baccalaureate of Arts (B.A.) degree

2. Z = Baccalaureate of Science (B.S.) degree

The Award Type field is configured manually by colleges in the Majors tab of the Administrator.

The purpose of this committee is to better understand how to incorporate BA degrees into CCCApply, as well as MIS reporting requirements have changed relative to Award Type response options.

Duties of this committee would be: -16;

• Convene a meeting (TBD) to discuss the issues and concerns raised across multiple CCC colleges and organizations regarding the need to incorporate BA degrees into CCCApply.  Should this be determined in the Administrator 2.0 committee?
   

• Document required changes for Steering Committee approval. 

Change Specifications

Add two new response options/data values to the "Award Type" data field <award_type>:

1. Y = Baccalaureate of Arts (B.A.) degree

2. Z = Baccalaureate of Science (B.S.) degree

Ensure the full set of data values are:

AA = Associate of Arts degree
AS = Associate of Science degree
AA-T = Associate of Arts degree for Transfer
AS-T = Associate of Science degree for Transfer
Y = Baccalaureate of Arts (B.A.) degree
Z = Baccalaureate of Science (B.S.) degree
Certificate = Certificate of Study
Other = Other Award Type
