EPI Umbrella

The products and projects within the CAT portfolio support the EPI mission and its objectives. 

The Ed Planning Initiative tracks progress against an set of Work Plan goals and objectives, which are set annually. Task numbers refer to Objectives in the grant Work Plan for the corresponding period of performance denoted in the grant number.  The grant Work Plan can be found at www.cccedplan.org, and includes:

COCI Task 7

By March 31th, 2015, an improved systemwide curriculum management system will provide essential data for educational planning, an assessment of the program inventory system will be conducted to develop a plan for improvement.

7.1

Working with CCCCO and college stakeholders, conduct an assessment of the program inventory system and develop a plan for improvement.

7.1.1

A documented assessment of the program inventory system and a plan for improvement. (Established June 29, 2015)

7.1.2

Establish system review process between CCCCO, CCCTC and CI Vendor (Ongoing: July 2015- June 30, 2017)

7.1.3

A documented plan for minimally needed features to replace the existing system with a new application (Established March 30 2016)

7.2

Establish COCI steering committee with participation from state and local California Community College leadership.

7.2.1

Committee membership aligns with committee Charter.  (Established March 20, 2016: Ongoing March 1, 2016 – June 30, 2018)

7.2.2

Committee meets on a scheduled basis at least once a quarter. (Ongoing- March 1, 2016- June 30, 2018)

7.2.3Committee chairs or designated person participate appropriately in the larger, grant-wide SC, EPISC. (Ongoing- March 1, 2016- June 30, 2018)
COCI Task 8

By June 30th, 2015, improvements to the program inventory system will be in place and a plan for maintenance, management, and expansion of the project will be implemented.

8.1

Working with CCCCO and college stakeholders, follow through on a plan for improvement by replacing (via RFP or internal development) or modifying the existing systemwide curriculum management system.

8.1.1A new/improved program inventory system. (Ongoing- July 1, 2015 – December 31, 2016)
8.1.2

A plan for data conversion to new curriculum management system. (Ongoing- December 2015- December 2016)

8.1.3A change management plan encompassing end user training, updates on development status, workshops and user feedback. (Ongoing- December 2015- March 2017)
8.1.4An application support plan that allows users to submit support and enhancement requests. (Ongoing- December 2015- March 2017)
8.2Working with CCCCO and college stakeholders, develop and execute on a plan for maintenance, management, and expansion of the systemwide curriculum management system.

C-ID Task 24

By January 1st, 2017, coordinate with C-ID and ASSIST to develop a platform for Articulation that ensures that all planned courses students take across the system count toward a degree, certificate or transfer requirements.

eTrans Task 6

Given that electronic transcripts are an essential element in providing data for educational planning, expand the adoption of electronic transcripts and standards to all CCC’s.

6.1

Support and engage the eTranscriptCA steering committee to produce a 3-year plan to increase the adoption and expand the usage of electronic transcripts by all CCC’s.

All CCC’s have the capability to send/receive electronic transcripts. (Ongoing- July 1, 2013 – December 31, 2016)

6.2Working with the eTranscriptCA steering committee develop a financial incentive or permanent financial support program for implementation and expanded usage of eTranscriptCA.
6.2.1

6.3Working with the eTranscriptCA steering committee and Postsecondary Electronic Standards Council (PESC), participate in the open source EDexchange project to enhance security and increase reliability in eTranscript exchange
6.3.1

Operational EDexchange network to enhance security and increase the reliability in eTranscript exchange. (Ongoing- July 1, 2013 – June 30, 2017)

6.4Working with the eTranscriptCA steering committee and the Postsecondary Electronic Standards Council (PESC) EDexchange project, build a secure open source eTranscript California exchange so that all colleges and universities can adopt electronic transcripts without annual fees or vendor lock.
6.4.1

An operational secure open source eTranscript California exchange built using the PESC EDexchange network so that all colleges and universities can adopt electronic transcripts without annual fees or vendor lock. (Ongoing- April 1, 2014 – June 30, 2017)

eTrans Task 23


By January 1st, 2017, provide a streamlined process for students to transfer their records from multiple colleges to facilitate education planning/degree audit.

23.1

In collaboration with the CCC Technology Center, project steering and eTranscriptCA Steering Committee, students and student services stakeholders develop a transcript ordering service to streamline and track the acquisition of transcripts from a variety of institutions and K-12.
